Do you direct bill insurance companies?

In order to direct bill insurance companies I need to be registered with each individual insurance company or with their specific insurance company portal. This is because each insurance company has their own specific policies and requirements for direct billing, so the registration process can be different for each one. Once I'm registered with an insurance company, I will be able to direct bill them for services provided to their card holders. Here is a short list of the insurance companies I am registered with for direct billing:

  1. Telus E-Claim system, which includes Manulife, Canada Life, Group Source, Claim Secure, Johnson Group, BPA, Equitable Life, First Canadian, Manion, UV Insurance, People Corp., and More!

  2. Green Shield, SSQ, Empire Life

  3. Alberta and Medavie Blue Cross

  4. SunLife

*If you don’t see your insurance company here, please feel free to contact us to be sure!

Do you offer discounts?

YES! We offer 10% off to all seniors over 65 years of age and children 13 and younger.

Can massage therapy help with jaw pain or TMJD?

Massage therapy can help relieve chronic jaw pain and TMJD (Temporomandibular joint dysfunction) by relaxing tight muscles and reducing tension in the jaw and surrounding muscles. In TMJD the jaw joint and surrounding muscles may become tight and painful due to factors such as stress, teeth grinding or repetitive motions like chewing gum. Massage therapy can help relieve this pain and tension by applying pressure to the affected muscles and using techniques such as kneading, stretching and circular movements to break up the knots and improve circulation in the affected area. Moreover, massage therapy can also help reduce stress levels which can exasperate TMJD symptoms by promoting relaxation and relieving stress levels. Regular massage therapy treatments can reduce overall tension in the jaw and surrounding muscles providing relief from chronic pain and improving jaw function overtime.

What are your Professional Standards?

We (Massage Therapists of Alberta) are primary health care professionals who consult and collaborate with their clients to provide patient-centered care. Engaging in any conduct of a sexual nature will not be tolerated by this clinic and if this conduct occurs, the treatment will be immediately discontinued. This includes a client touching the Massage therapist, any comments of a sexual nature or requests of a sexual nature. If this occurs in any treatment, or communication, the perpetrator of such offences will be asked to leave the premises and reported to the applicable authorities.

I have migraines, can you help?

Muscle tension can increase headaches. Massage work can decrease tension in muscles such as the sub-occipitals, and intrinsic muscles of the neck and upper back. Regular massage treatments have helped many of my clients! The RAPID techniques have had great success with Migraine symptoms such as pain, nausea, dizziness and light sensitivity.

Do you treat carpal tunnel?

Massage can remove adhesions that gather at the carpal tunnel which contribute to the issue. Deep tissue work, RAPID, and frictioning of the affected tendons can decrease and even remove symptoms.

It’s my first massage:

Will it hurt?

While therapeutic massage can be quite painful at body mender we use a slow and steady approach. Communicate with your therapist regarding your discomfort. This will allow the therapist to work within your pain levels and ensure the massage is as comfortable as possible.

What should I wear?

Undress to YOUR level of comfort. your massage therapist will be able to work with anything! Some undress completely and some come to their treatments in loose fitting shorts, its up to you!

I have some pain, will this fix it?

While massage cannot always “fix” your issues it may definitely allow you some relief for the discomfort you have been experiencing, Speak to your therapist during your assessment for more information regarding your condition,
